when first they meet they ill shake for first time, after discussion or before leaving they will shake again. usually 2 times.

is this what you mean?

Yes thats right...The solution is C(10,2) = 10! / (8! * 2!) = 9*10 / 2 = 45

So 45 is the right answer.. 9+8+7+... isn't the ideal way to solve the problem but at least you got the answer right !!
