haha.. this one is cool..
i agree, cuz grown up people tends to complicate things..
ur first reaction is to focus on the trends cuz thats exactly how u do it,
but we forget about the initial condition..

Just see a flash review, i know how to compute, it just simple concept 5^(n) where n is digit counting starting from 1.
so 5^5 = 3125. the next will be 5^6 and so on.

Sorry, your answer is wrong.
Why? Because 1=5, so 5=1......

Nice thread lifeplayer, those numbers could be tricky
if we rewrite lifeplayers it would be like this :
A =5,
B=25,
C=125,
D=625,
then if lifeplayer put the exercise like this :
E=??? then the answer must 3125, but since lifeplayer takes 1 instead A, so there are confusion about that.
what about this :
4 - 5 x 6 + 3 / 3 + 7 = ????

Agree with you, though it same kind IQ test when i appy job interview. Those with some kind math figure, i proven dumb

4 - 5 x 6 + 3 / 3 + 7 = ????
If you are primary school student, your answer might be 6 and high school student and above will tell you -18 is the answer. So, which is correct? It is depend to actual question, the formula is create based on the actual need.

This is same as you will get the different answer when you use normal calculator (result show 6) and science calculator/computer (result show -18).

So, conclusion
4 - 5 x 6 + 3 / 3 + 7 = -18
((4 - 5) x 6 + 3 )/ 3 + 7 = 6

yep,the question is very easy,the first line of the question told us,1=5,so the answer is 5=1.the answer is "1".am i right?

I don't agree that it depends on the actual need. If the question is written like that and you are saying the answer is 6, then you are wrong. If a child is saying the answer is 6 you can understand why he can only give that answer but you can't say it's right.

Right, and you can see the difference even by switching windows calc from scientific to standard. It will give you two different results :-)

First at all, do you know why the calculation is set as first X & / then ony + & -? If you know the reason, you shall understand why i use "it is depend to actual need" as the answer
