Default english, the universal language

if there is no aliens exist, i guess english can be called as "universal language" since it is spoken all over the world. it's a way that world population love to talk with one another, in fact when two people from two different countries talk they usually use english. what's your thoughts on that?

Yes, you are right.
In Norway were I live, professors has warned us against using too much english in our daily speech because in under 100 years we might have converted totaly in to the english language, and the norwegian language wont exist any more.
(Though, in 100 years the earth wont exist anymore either).

I think its kinda cool that we have a language that everyone can use to communicate with eachother with. Makes it easier for everyone.

that's actually a great advice from the professors, it's always good to practise your own language. although i am not sure if earth going to get destroyed within 100 years (as you said), i certainly believe that english will remain constant after 100 years, some words may get changed.

I think one of the most beautiful features of english is that it is way too dynamic compared to other stangnant languages, so no, I don't think it will remain that way. I think it will be a lot less rigid by then, since the developing world isn't really very good with the grammar part of english and tend to use their local gramatical rules quite a lot.

Also, I do not encourage english at the cost of another language. I speak 3 languages pretty easily without any difficulty whatsoever, and I think 2 languages is a fairly simple deal! English should always supplement your already existing language

good to know you speak 3 languages, i guess it's nto very hard for you if you are really fluent in all 3.

yh you are right, english may change grammatically, however i think the meanings will remain the same. for example, "table" will still mean table i guess.

For so many years, i always practice my english languange. But because i had no much money so i can't take any course. I learn english by movie or listen to the music. My english teacher always say that english is the only languange that all people must learn. She advice me to practice with friend in daily conversation.

But in my country, especially in my place anyone who speak englis (even just say 'thank you') everyone judge that i'm bluffer by speak in english.

Well I agree if English considered as an universal language for now but I'm not sure whether or English still become an universal language, let's say about 500 years right now. History has proofed that the language of the country who lead the world will become an universal language. I heard long time ago, Arabic used as an universal language when middle-east countries enjoying its golden age.

I think in one hundred years English is still the universal language, because not only it used by many now, but it is relatively easy to learn compared to other language

Yes I agree if in this 21 century English still considered as th universal language even I'm sure the same thing goes in 22 century because native English countries really dominating the world today. But I'm not sure English still become an universal language for next 500 years unfortunately we can't see it whether or not English become the universal language at that time.

English language has developed very fast in my country. Many Boarding school private school even public school use english language as second language in school. Young generation especially who live in urban think that speaking english is part of modernity...

I don't think so, I know Chinese used widely but I'm not sure most people speaking Chinese because the number of non-Chinese people are more than the number of Chinese people.
