The island of Bali lies 3.2 km (2 mi) east of Java, and is approximately 8 degrees south of the equator. East to west, the island is approximately 153 km (95 mi) wide and is approximately 112 km (69 mi) north to south; it's land area is 5,632 km². The highest point is Mount Agung at 3,142 m (10,308 feet) high, an active volcano that last erupted in March 1963. Mountains cover centre to the eastern side, with Mount Agung the easternmost peak. Mount Batur (1,717 m) is also still active, an eruption 30,000 years was one of the largest known volcanic events on Earth.

The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Beaches in the south tend to have white sand while those in the north and west have black sand. The beach town of Padangbai in the south east has both[citation needed]. The Ho River is navigable by small sampan boats. Black sand beaches between Pasut and Klatingdukuh are being developed for tourism, but apart from the seaside temple of Tanah Lot.

The principal cities are the northern port of Singaraja, the former colonial capital of Bali, and the present provincial capital and largest city, Denpasar, near the southern coast. The town of Ubud (north of Denpasar), with its art market, museums and galleries, is arguably the cultural centre of Bali.

I have never been to Bali, but it is always promoted here in the Philippines as one of the best beach resort in the world famous for its white beaches. But there was an incident happened years ago in Bali where a lot of tourists died due to terrorism attack. But that was years ago and I think Bali is back to normal once again.

A funny fact about Bali is foreign tourist is more know about Bali than name Indonesia, the country itself. Most Bali people have religion of Hindu. Based history, they still connected with history of Majapahit, the longest and most powerful Hindu monarchy ever exist in Indonesia.
The rule in Bali not so tight like other province, that one reason some Western culture is welcome here.

I have gone to Bali three times with my family, Bali is very beautiful but be careful when to buy souvenir or something in Bali, ask the price first!!!!

I used to live in bali for 7years. it is a beautiful place to live, in fact many foreigner owned land and build the house/vila/resort there though actually it is forbidden by the law

yeah bali is developed so fast...you can find many facilities built in the past 5 years just to attract tourist not only from abroad but also for local people...if you like adventure it is now very easy to find outing/outbond fasilities around ubud...

Bali.. Ohh I love Bali.. Specially at Nusa Dua... N one more, my first time saw a ghost yeah at Bali.. lol.. At Plasa Resort, Sanur if i am not wrong.. Haha.. One more as said before if u want buy something , ask the price!!! Because sometimes the price not normal.. Lol
