Well, do you know why we have to learn history? what's history for?

i think history its for studying us from past experience of our country or from people.. specially to make us didnt make same mistake as they did or as our country did.. Maybe you know why we must studying history in Indonesia.. lol.. 350 years dude, we want make same mistake??

what do you mean with "350 years"? What kind of mistakes you talked about?

i think history needs to be taught so that one can learn from mistakes that past people did, it's like a suggestion book.

Indonesia once was a Dutch Colony, known as East Indie. Dutch Merchant arrived and invaded local kingdoms under V.O.C (a cartel to monopoly trading against British and Portugal Merchants) there in 17th century. The Dutch Empire gave VOC power to established own army and own currency in their colonial land. And Indonesia gained their independence in 1945 after the WW2 ended.

Well, if you said that Indonesia has occupied by Dutch armies for about 350 years then I disagree because many regions in Indonesia was under occupation of Dutch armies in less than a decade but there are some regions in Indonesia which occupied by Dutch armies for about 350 years, I forgot how long exactly was. Occupied by Dutch armies for about 350 years just a jargon during old and new order to strengthen our leader position.

I like history, but I think we must consider this:
Actually history is bias and maybe the true history is never exist, since it was writen by the winner.

actually it's not occupied, I think their local rulers maybe that years didn't understand the monopoly trading concept, it's the Dutch makes agreement with local rulers to plant commodities whatever they want. Anyone here who can explain more.

History is important because it is a necessity to understand what is going on in the world at the present and for the future. Understanding the causation of a certain historical event can be useful for decision-makers as a means of analysis. For example, by learning the level of devastation caused by World War I and World War II, people now understand that the cost of a global war is way bigger than the benefits from it. Cheers.

we can't change history, neither can we creat it. so there is no other option but to learn it. i don't think indians have ever learnd from their past mistakes. lack of unity has been the main cause of our downfall. but we have never tried to unite. however history tells us that we can only progress if we stand united.

but somehow, we learned too tactical warfare, there's always a bad side and a good side. both shared our future together. will history repeats?

I tend to think that Dutch armies were colonized our country than trading with our country though at first they came to here for trading but later they want more than that and as the result Indonesia have colonized for quite long time though not as long as 350 years.

History is a must to compare between past and present.it also help us to know more about our ancesters , from where we came and whats our origin.

I think that history is really important, as it shows us how we came to be living the way we are today, and also helps us to understand many economic and political problems that we may still have.
I think we should want to learn history, as it is the history of our own race!
