Default zimbabwe is the most educated african country, yet they are poor

zimbabwe has an adult literacy rate of 90%, which is highest amongst all african nations. not only africa, it is pretty high among the whole world. it is ironic that although they are educated, they are considered to be one of the poorest countries. politics is destroying the country, what's your thoughts on that?

is this the country where Robert Mugabe is the president? correct me, but i heard and watched from the news, that this country poorness and poverty was because Mugabe radical political movement.
Indeed, E.U and U.S banned him to go to their country. But i wonder how, he could attended Pope John Paul II funeral in Vatican?

yh that's the country where robert mugabe is the president. i think only reason he was allowed in vatican is because he was not banned there, so he can visit there.

yes, i found that information in wikipedia. actually i had that question too, how come zimbabwe beats south africa in literacy rate, since south africa has a good economic balance.

i found that information in the following site:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Zimbabwe

Quote:
Zimbabwe has an adult literacy rate of approximately 90% which is amongst the highest in Africa. However, since 1995 the adult literacy rate of Zimbabwe has steadily decreased which is a trend shared by other African countries.
