for me first the basics like microsoft word, excel , then html idea is a must.after that you can learn c language and java.

mmm, from my point of view the hardest part when you learn how to program is the algorithm, u need to define logic within your application. while for the language you choose i think u just need to familiar with the basic syntax, and once you familiar with it ,it's no problem to learn the advance side (but even though i said it, it still hard to me to understand Basic language -maybe it is because i learn C first..

C and C++ are the first things that are recommended for learning programming. They are the base of a lot of languages and it becomes easier to learn other languages after you know these..
From a modern perspective Java is a very good option as well. It has a number of benefits, wide utility and the syntax is pretty similar to C++ as well.. |

I think the answer may vary for each person. For example for someone who has strong logic background he/she will find that algorithm much easier than someone who has weak logic background.
