In my opinion the VoIP services will be more used by technicians, uncritical product support staff, employees of those multi-national organizations etc. We are yet to prove that VoIP can be dependable for mission critical and emergency services as well (read NASA or 911 calls). But if the bandwidth and reliability keep increasing even these services can be taken care of in the future. Any idea if there’s a delay in getting connected? I mean, I wouldn’t want a 911 call to take 30 secs to get connected itself.

VOIP is relatively easy to use. Maybe the technical workings are too much to comprehend for the average layman, but even housewives can operate a VOIP phone. Even better if they are computer literate. Companies that use VOIP have opened up a new job market for stay at home moms.
Technical installation has come a long way I agree. But still I would not skimp on this very important aspect. When one uses VOIP for personal phone calls thsi aspect is very easy, but for a large company it might require more expertise. In addition a good qualified team could include features that improve the value of the investment and in this way it would probably pay for itself very quickly. As time goes on it becomes more and more necessary to have interoperability between phone and other media mediums.
