Buy a Computer – Choose Wisely!

Why to buy a computer wisely? Many people who want a new computer or have a desire to replace their old box simply because they have got tired by looking at it do not spend much time thinking what they would require in a personal computer. These men just rush with their credit cards to the nearest electronics store, order the most up to date computer that is available. So what if it is a little weighty on the wallet? They want one with the heaviest configurations so that it is “modern”. Then they use it for a couple of years (and maybe more) and soon, it is time to buy a new one because as everybody knows, computing technologies become old with each passing day. Some big company is always developing the “cheapest” or the “thinnest” PC.

The computer is today not a mere luxury, it is actually a necessity. More and more of our usual work at the office and the home now depend either partially or in many cases completely, on the computer. Be it a simple matter of maintaining data about one’s personal book or even DVD library, things just do not seem to work out well if a computer is not in the picture. Therefore, it is important that we realize what exactly we are going to use the computer for, before we buy it. Do I need it for accounting, or for playing games? Is the internet my main priority or is it just watching films? These facts are essential because it may end up in saving you more money than you thought. In other words, why would one buy a heavily configured computer purely for accounting? That would be a sorry waste of money and resources because all that RAM and processing power, along with the excellent video graphics would become old and stale. Who needs such stuff in a machine only for typing letters and memos? Is a 250GB hard disk space actually required for storing plain text files?

Now how exactly should one go about a decent buy when it comes to a computer? The first thing to note is the quality of all the things and people involved. This includes the quality of components, after sales services, the build, and other factors. You have to ensure that you are buying quality computer parts for your specific need. Let me explain this with an example. Suppose you need to buy a computer only for typing articles, letters and other documents. In this case, you could definitely do with a light configuration. 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard disk and reasonably light graphic cards, sound cards etc. will do the perfect job. In fact, this type of a setup could easily last more than five years if you are not demanding. However, things that are most important are the keyboard and the monitor. You must choose a model which does not strain either those fingers which are going to be typing all day, or the eyes which are going to be hooked five hours out of seven, into the computer screen.

The last thing that needs to be kept in mind when you buy a computer is the warranty and the after sales service that your dealer is offering because you are going to encounter problems and will a someone at hand to fix them.
